Dance

Program Description

The Arts Mackenzie Dance Program at Alexander Mackenzie High School is a four-year specialized program designed for students passionate about dance. Throughout their high school experience, students participate in a dance course each semester, earning a total of eight dance credits. The program fosters creativity, artistry, and collaboration while providing intensive training in a variety of dance forms focusing on technique, performance skills and a deep appreciation for the art of dance. With a focus on educating the whole dancer — mind, body, and artistry — the program encourages students to develop both their technical skills, academic excellence and artistic voice.

Benefits of Dance Education:

Dance education offers students a wide range of benefits that extend beyond the studio. It promotes physical fitness, coordination, and body awareness while cultivating creativity, self-expression, and emotional well-being. Through dance, students develop discipline, confidence, and resilience, as well as essential collaborative and communication skills. These experiences help students grow as artists and individuals, preparing them for success in all areas of life.
