Diploma Overview

Students will have a full timetable in preparatory years (Grades 9 and 10 - eight courses per year

  • English, Math, French, History and Science are offered at preparatory level (IB streamed)

  • Tech, Phy Ed, Geography, the Arts, Civics and Career are not IB streamed. 

Students will have full IB course load in Grade 11 and 12 (8 IB course per year)

 Grade 9 - Preparing for the Diploma Years 

  • IB Streamed English; French; Mathematics & Science

  • Geography; Physical Education

  • 2 Elective Courses (including 1 tech course)

    • Arts

    • Computer Studies

    • Business

    • Family Studies

    • Technology

Grade 10 - Preparing for the Diploma Years

  • IB Streamed English; French; History; Science; Mathematics (2 Credits - 1 Gr. 10 Math and 1 Gr. 11 Math)

  • Civics and Careers

  • 1 Elective Course

The following courses will be taken throughout Grade 11 Anticipation Year (Diploma Programme Year 1) and Grade 12 Diploma Year (Diploma Programme Year 2):

Students will take 1 course in each Group. Students are required to take 3 Higher Level (HL) courses and 3 Standard Level (SL) courses during DP1 and DP2. HL lasts for 3 semesters and SL lasts for 2 semesters.

  • Group 1: English A Literature (HL)

  • Group 2: French B (SL)

  • Group 3: History Americas (HL) / Psychology (HL)

  • Group 4: Chemistry (HL)

  • Group 5: Mathematics AA (SL)

  • Group 6: Biology (SL) / Physics (SL) / Theatre Arts (SL) / Music (SL)
