Dear Parents/Guardians:

I hope you are doing well. In this newsletter, you will find important information and updates about our IB program at AMHS.

IB info night 2026

Our IB Information Night will be held on the evening of Thursday, October 15, 2026. This event is designed for Grade 8 students and their families to learn more about the IB program and the application process for the upcoming school year.

The evening program will begin at 7:00 p.m. As in previous years, we are also offering families the opportunity to explore our school and connect with IB subject teachers who will be available to answer specific questions about their courses. This optional, self-paced tour will take place from 6:00 to 6:45 p.m.

May 2026 IB Exam Statistics

I would like to take this opportunity to share the result from the May 2026 session. DP1 students wrote Math + Physics / Biology IB Exams, and DP2 students wrote English, Chemistry, History and French IB Exams.

As always, our IB students performed very well in the exam session. Each of the six subjects is graded on a scale of 1 to 7 points, and up to 3 additional points can be earned through Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and the Extended Essay (EE). The maximum possible score for the IB Diploma is 45 points.

Global statistic (May 2026) - Out of 131,467 students in the Diploma Program world-wide (from 3442 schools)

IB Council Mentorship Program

The IB Council is organizing a mentorship program designed to bridge the gap between Grade 9 and Grade 12 IB students. Each Grade 9 student who signs up will be paired with an experienced Grade 12 IB student who can answer questions, share experiences, and provide guidance to students who are new to high school and the IB Programme.

This peer-to-peer mentorship provides a more accessible and personal way for Grade 9 students to navigate and digest the wealth of new information that comes with starting high school and joining the IB Programme. If you would like your child to participate, please have them sign up using the link here: https://forms.gle/DsUoGETNQ76hAJ5Q6

IB introduction - Lunch and Learn

Our IB student leaders organized a lunch-and-learn session for the Grade 9 Preparatory students. This was a great opportunity for our Grade 9 students to build connections with senior IB students and learn more about the structure, expectations, and student experience within the IB Programme.

We hope this type of peer-to-peer interaction will help our younger students feel more connected to the IB community and better prepared for their IB journey.
