IB Newsletter - June 2025

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Hope you are doing well. In this newsletter, you will find some relevant information and updates about our IB program at AMHS. There have been a lot of activities going on in the months of May and June.

Outlined below are some of the IB moments in this last newsletter of the year.

May 13 - Air Quality Testing - Gr. 9 Preparatory IB

Gr. 9 students had a chance to put what they have learned into practice. There is a lot for students to discover by measuring the air quality directly

May 15 - Tree Planing Trip - Gr. 9 Preparatory IB

Gr. 9 students participated in a meaningful trip that can directly support the environment and community. We have a partnership with a community group to plant trees in the town of Richmond Hill.

May 21 - Last day of Exam - Celebration of their success with DP2 students

We recognize that students have put in so much in the entire IB program in order to meet all of the diploma program requirements. As DP2 students finished their last IB exam on May 21, we gathered together to celebrate their success. Our principal Ms. Luks gave students an encouraging speech, and each student was presented with a custom-made souvenir.

May 22 - DP1 - Collaboration Project (Group 4 Project) - Toronto Zoo

Our DP1 students went to the Toronto Zoo for their Group 4 collaboration project. It was raining all day but students still had so much fun on the trip. Students also created displays and presented their projects after the trip.

June 2 - Solar Observation - DP1

Some DP1 students had a chance to participate in a solar observation activity. We emphasized the safety of such an activity and students looked at the sun with details (Sun Spots, Solar Flare, Solar Prominences) through a specialized Solar Telescope.

June 3 - IB Trip to the Ripley’s aquarium of Canada

Gr. 9 to 12 IB students There was a trip for all IB students to the Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. This is the first time visit to the aquarium for some of our students

June 4 - IB Banquet - Gr. 9 to 12 IB

The second annual IB Banquet took place in the evening of June 4. That was so much fun. If your child missed this opportunity this year, please remind them to sign up for the banquet next year!

DP1 and DP2 - IB Exam Result and Mark Alignment in July IB

Exams will be released on July 6, 2025 at 12:00 GMT. Students have been given a login credential by email on April 9th to check their IB Exam results online vis https://candidates.ibo.org. For DP2 students, as they will lose access to their gapps account credentials once they graduate, it is recommended that they print out a copy of the email that I sent to them on April 9th.

If you have questions about the exam results, there is an exam remarking process from IB named EUR (Enquiry Upon Results). I will send another email with details about this process near the end of June.

Once the results are released, for any Gr. 12 credits in the IB program (DP1 - MHF4U and MCR4U, SPH4U or SBI4U or AMU4U; DP2 - ENG4U, ETS4U, SCH4U, SNC4M, FSF4U, CHY4U, CHI4U), the final mark will be realigned based on the level achieved and the mark on the June report card. Since the results are released in Summer, the mark alignments will be performed in our system when school resumes in September.

Parents of DP2 students

Please remind your child to fill out the post-secondary destination google form available on their google classroom. This will allow IB to send the official results directly to the post-secondary institution your child has chosen. This concludes our monthly newsletter for the school year of 2024-2025. The IB program is a community of its own. It takes more than a village to help all IB students navigate through this IB Journey. I would like to express my gratitude to all parents for your advice, guidance and participation in supporting your child in our IB program.

Thank you !
