Hope you are doing well. In this newsletter, you will find some relevant information and updates about our IB program at AMHS.
Semester 2 has just started
Semester 2 started on February 2nd. It will run from Feb2nd to the end of June. We wish all students the best in this semester.
Course Selection
Students will need to register for courses that they wish to take in the next school year through a process called “Course Selection”. This year, the time window for course selection is from February 12 to February 20.
Course selection is a critical process for school to plan accordingly for next school year. Once we know how many students are interested in certain courses, appropriate resources will be placed including hiring new staff if needed. Based on the course selection information, we will also know if there is a need to combine classes or cancel classes due to low enrollment. For IB specific courses, course selection data can also help us determine how many sections for each course for next school year. For preparatory 9 and 10, there are mandatory IB streamed courses and some elective courses.
Our Guidance Office will help all students in this critical process. In particular, here are some grade specific workshops via Google meets, students can get the accurate information about the course selection process through the workshops in the following times:
For Grade 9 into Grade 10 - Period 1 on February 10th
For Grade 10 into Grade 11 - Period 3 on February 10th
For Grade 11 into Grade 12 - Period 2 on February 11th
These workshops will cover course selection information for students in regular program and in specialized programs (IB, Arts, SHSM)
